Kim's Story

Kim was an average guy. He was actually in the military. He was on leave hanging out with some friends when he committed his crime and was arrested.

Unknowing to me Kim was a gang member. He was a TRG (Tiny Rascal Gang). One of the most dangerous Asian gang in Long Beach California.

Apparently when he met up with a few of his old fellow gang buddies they got into a confrontation of some kind with a rival gang Asian Boyz, he did not elaborate on what started it all.

Asian Boyz are a Asian faction of the Crips.

He did not tell me what he did since he was fighting his case. This seemed to be important because there are snitches and everyone had to be careful. I thought that only happened in TV shows like Law and Order where inmates get evidence on other inmates and snitch it to the cops or the DA. I found out about his story after he got sentenced to 25 years to life.

He and his friends went to look for the Asian Boyz who threw something at them earlier in the day. By 11PM there were 2 Asian Boyz lying on the streets dead and another one with a gunshot wound in the head. Kim said he was there but it was self defense and also that he had no gun and did not shoot.

The judge saw it differently and Kim's Military record did not help him a bit. He is currently serving 25 years to life in prison while he is appealing his case.

This kind of story is not that interesting and not uncommon but it was the 1st story I have heard and it was the first time I have talked face to face to a person accused of murder.

Kim looked like he did not belong in jail. He looked like a normal kid. Just a kid.

Kim was fighting to stay out of prison for at least 20 years at 22 years old. Unknown to me there will be a lot of stories like this in the coming months.
